The tip I suggest is that if you want to reduce the amount of water used in your toilet per flush, place a quart-jug of water (with the lid screwed on) into your toilet tank. This way, the volume of the toilet tank will be reduced and the amount of water pumped into the bowl each flush will be reduced by one quart. And it won't make your toilet overflow because toilet tanks stop filling once the floating device reaches a certain point.

A great way to save water is to disconnect the drain pipe at the bottom of the sink, and put a bucket below so the water drains into the bucket. When the bucket gets full, you could use the water to flush the toilet.
